These 14K gold vermeil earrings are named for their gorgeous cascading style combining the Flower of Life with our Akasha design. They are centrally accented with a small center bunch of faceted Iolite or Purple Jade beads for that pop of color. Their styling tapers from the Flower of Life circle down to the beads and Fiore outline shape, which artistically blends the positive and negative forms of the two shapes.
The Flower of Life is an icon of “sacred geometry” which is a fascinating term that helps describe the study of religious and cultural value explained through natural forms and mathematics found on earth. It is believed that the Flower of Life has helped unlock a number of mythical questions through its mathematical properties. For some, the seven circles represent the seven days of creation, while Plato on the other hand, used the flower to help unlock the mystery of the Platonic solids arguing that all of creation was built on five shapes alone. The seven circles in the Flower have been studied in religions such as Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, and throughout the Mayan, Egyptian, Roman, and Middle Eastern cultures over the course of thousands of years.
Vermeil is defined as an overlay of gold on sterling silver. This ensures a quality metal as opposed to base metals under your gold. Because of its plating, vermeil should never be polished. If severe tarnish is occurring from the sterling silver tarnishing beneath your gold, an ultrasonic cleaning can be used on a limited basis. To help reduce this tarnishing, we have added a palladium layer between our sterling silver and gold on many items. Your vermeil will look beautiful for a long time to come and will “antique” with age for a charming new look. Just remember to protect it in your anti-tarnish felt bag or a velvet lined jewelry box to avoid scratching, chemicals, hairspray, and make-up.
