Product Care Matte Finished 14K Gold Vermeil: Vermeil is defined as an overlay of gold on sterling silver. This ensures a quality metal as opposed to base medals under your gold. Because of its plating, vermeil should never be polished. If severe tarnish is occurring from the sterling silver tarnishing beneath your gold, an ultrasonic cleaning can be used on a limited basis. To avoid these future tarnishing problems, we have added a palladium layer between our sterling silver and gold. Palladium is part of the platinum family and prevents the silver under our gold from tarnishing for a number of years.
