These hoop earrings were designed to be an everyday piece that could be a staple in every woman’s wardrobe. The Osiris temple in Abydos, Egypt was specially created from a geometric format based on the Flower of Life. Carved in the middle of the temple, it was considered to help connect the temple to the Gods through its powers and symbolism. In Egyptian religion, Osiris was a legendary ruler and the god of the underworld. He brought to the people knowledge of agriculture and civilization. The worship of Osiris was so strong it later spread through the Mediterranean region well into the reign of the Roman Empire.
Vermeil is defined as an overlay of gold on sterling silver. This ensures a quality metal as opposed to base metals under your gold. Because of its plating, vermeil should never be polished. If severe tarnish is occurring from the sterling silver tarnishing beneath your gold, an ultrasonic cleaning can be used on a limited basis. To help reduce this tarnishing, we have added a palladium layer between our sterling silver and gold on many items. Your vermeil will look beautiful for a long time to come and will “antique” with age for a charming new look. Just remember to protect it in your anti-tarnish felt bag or a velvet lined jewelry box to avoid scratching, chemicals, hairspray, and make-up.
