Simple, comfortable, and with just a hint of hammered texturing, these 14K gold vermeil and sterling silver stacking rings were designed to be the epitome of sleek, contemporary styling.
Vermeil is defined as an overlay of gold on sterling silver. This ensures a quality metal as opposed to base metals under your gold. Because of its plating, vermeil should never be polished. If severe tarnish is occurring from the sterling silver tarnishing beneath your gold, an ultrasonic cleaning can be used on a limited basis. Our vermeil should last you for years, and as it eventually ages, it will begin to have an “antiqued” feel. It will blend nicely with the sterling silver of the piece, and you can continue to polish the sterling separately. When polishing the silver of a two-tone piece, you want to be as careful as possible to avoid the gold plated areas. Usually a polish cream is the best way to have control and avoid the gold as well as any organic gemstones such as turquoise, pearls, or opals.
Lastly, since all tarnishing is caused by oxidation of the metal when it comes in contact with the air, keep your jewelry in its anti-tarnish bag, or in a fairly airtight container like a velvet-lined jewelry box. Your natural body oils will help keep the jewelry clean and polished so most important, remember to wear it!!
